Mini-worm composting (or vermicomposting) bin

As winter started coming, I got worried that my experiments in having a winter outdoor bin might not work out so I created a small backup bin. It had to be small enough to fit in my well ventilated storage locker in the basement and yet keep enough worms alive.

The bin really is small. The box is only about 23cmx23cmx23cm (9"x9"x9"). I put a plastic bag inside to protect the cardboard.
I used the same type of bedding outlined on my bedding page though I didn't use any formulas this time. With my experience I figured I could wing it and adjust as needed.
The lid is a cardboard frame with fly mesh stretched across it. From experience with my black bin this type of cover seems to keep things dry and not require any ventialtion holes in the base.
I started with about only 12 worms taken from my outdoor bin.
The food is already blended to make it easy for the worms to eat right away.
